Instrumental and Vocal Music Conservatories
This
course of Introduction to Professional Music has been created exclusively for
students enrolled in Encore High School. This course must be taken in
conjunction with the online course: Arts, Media, Entertainment in the
appropriate student level. This course is graded on a 4.0 grading
system. At the completion of this course, you will earn 10 credits
toward UC admission requirements (with a letter grade of "C" or better)
under "F" Fine Arts. One year or 10 credits are required under "F" to
be considered for UC admissions.
The online portion of this
course does not account for the full course. There are extensive lab
hours that need to be completed in order to gain the 10 fine arts
credits. The lab hours are done in a variety of specific courses
including: Guitar, Piano, Choir, Soloist, Musical Theatre, Band, and Drumline.
This course is also part of the Career Technical Education pathway -
Arts, Media, and Entertainment. The state of California recognizes that
for a student to be college and career ready by the conclusion of high
school, they should complete the A-G minimum requirements and a CTE
pathway. The CTE pathway requires an introductory course (like this
one), and intermediate course, and and advanced
capstone course to complete the pathway.
At Encore, you also have the ability to graduate from high school with a
House Cord. To earn a House Cord for the Expressive Arts, you must
complete a series of requirements by the time you graduate. When you
complete these requirements, you earn the distinction of a special
"swag" cord to wear with your cap and gown at graduation and a
certificate.
For students wishing to graduate from Encore High School with a Masters
Certification in the Vocal Music or Instrumental Music Conservatory, this is one of the qualifying
courses that needs to be completed within the series of requirements to
be completed by the time you graduate. When you complete this course
along with a series of other items prior to graduation, you earn the
distinction of graduation with a "Master's Certification." With this certification, you earn the distinction of wearing
the instrumental music stole with your cap and gown at graduation, a
presentation of a plaque during the graduation ceremony, and the
distinction is added to your transcripts.
