English III Honors
Through this course, students will become familiarized with major movements in American literature along with corresponding developments in American history. Aspects of American culture will also be studied, as well as how these elements affected the ongoing maturation of American literature. Students will write compositions for a variety of purposes, including the domains of exposition, argumentation, narration, and literary analysis. Lastly, systematic vocabulary development will be emphasized, as well as standard written conventions of the English language. This course will utilize a variety of learning methods, including textbook and novel readings, lectures, spontaneous and process-based writing assignments, various types of media, student interactive discussions, creative projects, and other techniques related to the study of English Language Arts and its applicability to modern society.
